Dragon Songs

A Healthy, Normal American Dragon (We Love You, ...)

Adapted from Bye, Bye Birdie,Sung by Stephanie Grefsheim and the Dragon Club

How does she feel?

You ask how she feels?

She’s much too shy to tell you,

So I’ll tell you how she feels,

She feels brave and eager

Strangely humble

Proud to be your dragon!

She would gladly sail to the sky

For she’s not afraid to fly!

Chorus: We love you, Freedom,  Oh, yes, we do. We love you, Freedom, and we’ll be true.  When

you're not near to us, we're blue.  Oh, Freedom we love you.

Now listen here

I’ll tell you some news

I’ll tell you where she came from, here’s the story and it’s true!

She was born in old towne Rockville

Child of educators, yeah!

Very smart and very nimble

What a lovely life to bear!

Then she drifted down to Beall

To the name on the front wall!

That is where I heard her singing

‘neath that glorious Rockville moon!

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain.

America, America, God shed his grace on thee.

Chorus: We love you, Freedom,  Oh, yes, we do. We love you, Freedom,  and we'll be true.  When

you're not near to us, we're blue. Oh, Freedom, we love you!

For she’s a fine up standing, average, modest,

Patriotic, healthy, normal

American dragon!!

Glory to Thee, my Dragon Fine

Adapted from the canon "Glory to Thee, my God, This Night"

Glory to thee, my dragon fine

You’ve lived forever through all time,

Dwelling in caves and in the seas.

Explaining creation's mysteries.

Magic and horror you have shown.

Both bad and beauteous you have known.

What we’ve imagined you have been

And many thought they’d heard and seen.

Now our Beall Dragon we do place

Upon our own school’s outer face.

What shall we imagine you to be?

Bright, strong and gentle, Kind and Free.

Here is your home, here you will live.

To you our joyful thoughts we’ll give

May you look on us from above

With strong pure heart so full of love.
